Instructor Laurie Brockhaus E-RYT 500, LCSW
As a licensed clinical social worker and former elementary and middle school teacher, Laurie Brockhaus has over 15 years experience working with youth and has been teaching yoga for ten years, often to children and teens in schools and community settings. Laurie currently serves as a primary instructor and program advisor for Urban Breath Yoga’s 200 and 300 hour yoga teacher training programs and manages the Oxygen Project. She is excited to merge her skills and experience in teaching yoga, teaching youth, and social service in this course.
Instructor Jee Moon, E-RYT-500
Jee has been teaching yoga since 2001 in Singapore, Seoul, and now St. Louis, and has led yoga teacher training courses since 2013. Jee's intensive study of yin yoga informs how she teaches group classes, as well as her instruction of physical and subtle body anatomy in yoga teacher trainings. Jee is dedicated to continuing her studies in yin yoga, anatomy, yoga philosophy, and meditation; she travels each year to California to train with Paul and Suzee Grilley. Along with teaching in Urban Breath's 200-hour and 300-hour yoga teacher training programs, she brings her yin yoga teachings back home to Seoul each year.
About UB's Yoga School:
"Walking into the studio 5 months ago, I was nervous and wasn't sure what to expect. From the very first day I felt welcomed and accepted. I view this program as professional, fun & informational."

"I loved it. I found Laurie, Jee, and Stacy to be kind, knowledgeable, and thorough, not to mention helpful and professional. I felt that I grew as a teacher, a yoga student, and as an observer and participant of life."

"I valued the fact that we had work, that it was a legit learning experience instead of simply handing us a certificate at the end of the program. I liked that we had homework, assignments, and projects. It made me feel like I was expected to learn, not just go through the motions."

"The program was well put together and introduced us to many elements of yoga. I enjoyed learning about the history as well as the methodology of yoga. The program offered a welcoming, open community of yoga-like-minded individuals to come together and grow their knowledge/experience with yoga."

"I very much enjoyed the program. I thought the 1 year length was perfect - I can't imagine squeezing this into a shorter time period. The topics chosen were very relative and appropriate and, for the most part, well executed. There was a good mix of lecture, discussion and activities to break up the days."

"The Foundational YTT program was quite strong. It provided a comprehensive education of yoga history, philosophy, and living; pedagogy and techniques; anatomy of the physical and subtle bodies; and complementary thought-systems like Aruveyda, Buddhism, and Traditional Chinese Medicine. I appreciated the structure of the program, in that we were given the opportunity to truly explore, test, and integrate concepts and lessons into our practices over the course of a year."

"My overall impression of the Urban Breath Yoga Teacher Training was very detailed and well rounded. The training did not just cover the physical aspects of teaching yoga (anatomy, alignment and cuing) it covered the philosophy, history, the roots of yoga. It honestly was a life changing experience for me. As I went through the training I would find myself applying the principles of yoga to my everyday life. I highly recommend this RYTT program to anyone interested in teaching yoga. You will not be disappointed!!!"

"My impression is that the instructors took immense time and care to plan and implement a thorough curriculum. The program surpassed my expectations of an introductory training in terms of the quality of instruction, the vigorousness of the curriculum and what I learned throughout the training! I loved the instructors, their passion and the experience! I have grown so much as a human and feel like I can make significant contributions as a yoga instructor! Love you guys!"

"The program was a very positive experience. The format was perfect for my schedule, and the diversity of training we received was interesting and helpful. I also enjoyed the friendships and connections I made with the other participants and instructors."
