Urban Breath Yoga is participating in the annual St. Francis Community Services holiday Adopt-a-Family program. St. Francis Community Services serves a mostly immigrant and refugee population, providing legal aid, refugee resettlement, homeless services, youth programs, meals for older adults, bilingual mental health counseling, case management, and more. Need among the families that St. Francis serves has increased this year, and we hope that our UB family will help us in helping another St. Louis family have a happier holiday season!
Based on families’ needs and requests, the agency is collecting gift cards, rather than gifts, for each family again this year. We are asking you to join us by donating money that we will use to purchase the gift cards that our adopted family members would like.
About our adopted family: This year we have “adopted” a family of nine, and in the household are four adults and five children between the ages of two and eleven years old. The family describes themselves as united and loving, despite facing daily struggles this past year. The children like being active—playing soccer, jumping rope, and skateboarding—and being creative by painting. And, the adults are hard-working, loving, intelligent, and value family. They look forward to their tradition of a holiday dinner together.
