Welcome.
If you’re new to yoga, you’re in the right place! At Urban Breath Yoga, we create a supportive and welcoming space for beginners to explore the practice at their own pace. Our skilled and compassionate teachers will guide you through the basics, helping you build confidence, strength, and flexibility while finding a sense of ease on your mat. Whether you're here to improve mobility, reduce stress, or simply try something new, we’re here to support you every step of the way. Take a deep breath—you've got this!

Getting started:
-
- Choose your class—Gentle Yoga, Restorative Yoga, or Hatha are wonderful places to begin.
- Sign up and arrive early—plan to come about 15 minutes before class so you can check in, settle, and feel at home.

Don't Worry
You don’t have to be flexible. Yoga meets you where you are. The right class level matters more than what anyone else is doing.
It’s not just for women. Men practice yoga too—and benefit just as much.
Yoga can help with pain. Let your instructor know about any injuries or health concerns. Gentle, consistent practice often supports healing and relief.
It’s not boring. Stillness can feel tough at first, but many students find meditation and final relaxation become the sweetest parts of class.
It’s normal to feel intimidated. Your first class might feel new and unfamiliar, but that feeling won’t last. We’ll do everything we can to make you feel welcome.
Yoga helps create time. As your practice grows, you may notice more clarity, energy, and spaciousness in your day.

Things to know before your first class
Arrive early. Give yourself plenty of time to check in, settle, and relax before class begins.
Keep it quiet. Please maintain a calm atmosphere in the studio, lobby, and hallways so everyone can enjoy a peaceful experience.
Phones off. Leave your cell phone silenced and tucked away—ringing or buzzing can disrupt your practice (and everyone else’s).
Talk to your teacher. Let your instructor know about any injuries or health concerns so we can support you safely.
Bring a mat. If you don’t have one, you’re welcome to borrow or purchase a mat from our shop.
Dress comfortably. Wear clothes you can move and stretch in—nothing fancy required.
Shoes off. The studio is a barefoot space. Socks are fine, but bare feet help with balance and stability.
Eat light. Just like with any exercise, avoid a heavy meal right before class.
