What to bring/expect:
A yoga mat
Bring your yoga mat with you to yoga class. You can borrow a mat from us or buy yourself a nice mat in our botique.
Clothes
Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in. That's all.
Bare feet
You can wear your socks in the studio but it's hard to practice yoga in socks. Bare feet are the answer.
Cell phone
Turn it off. Really. It won't be nice for anyone to listen to your phone ring out in the hall while you are in class.
Health issues
Always tell your instructor if you have any health issues or injuries you are working with.
Don't be late
Arrive in plenty of time to get settled in.
Quiet
Keep it quiet while in the studio, even in reception and hall.
Eating
Like any exercise, don't eat too close to the class start time.
Beginner-friendly classes:
Yoga Basics
Restorative yoga
When you need rest, healing, and comfort, Restorative yoga offers relaxation. Supported by blankets, bolsters, and blocks, you will stay in each pose for five to ten minutes, with the aim of being completely supported in each position. No yoga experience is required.
Slow Flow Vinyasa
Hatha Yoga
Gentle Yoga
Remember:
It is not a problem if you are not flexible.
Try to take a class that is the right level, and know that it doesn't matter what other students can do.
Yoga isn't boring
Stillness can be challenging. It gets easier with practice and you may find that the meditation and the final relaxation are what you need most.
It's not just women
Men practice yoga, too.
It can be intimidating at first
You may feel a bit out of place if this is your first studio class but that won't last long. We'll do all we can to make it a great experience for you.
Yoga can help with pain
A yoga practice can help with pain. Always tell your instructor if you have any health issues or injuries you are working with, but continuing to practice often helps.
Yoga can help you make time
As you begin to see the full benefits of your practice you'll find you have more time than you realized.
